“Insider’s Guide to Instrument Departures Procedures,” with Jim Gruneisen.
Tuesday, May 11, 2021; Social: 6:30 p.m.; Club Meeting: 6:45 p.m.; Presentation: 7 p.m.
Have you been confused by the terms “cleared as filed,” “diverse departure procedure,” VCOA, ODP, or SID?
Can you maintain your own terrain clearance to 3,000 ft., etc.?
This presentation will help you make decisions about how to depart an airport under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) conditions.
What are the options you should consider and the hazards to avoid?
This presentation reviews these topics and how they apply to the San Martin Airport (E16) departure procedure.
Jim Gruneisen is an HP and Agilent Technologies retiree. For the past 16 years he has been a charter pilot for Centurion Flight Services at Palo Alto Airport (KPAO). During the summer he is a charter pilot for Island Air Ambulance on San Juan Island in Washington state. He flies his own E55 Beechcraft Baron and the company C206, C207, C208 Caravan, C210, C414 Chancellor, and a Kodiak. He is also a check airman completing flight checks for company Part 135 pilots.
