A Big Turnout for Our Joint BBQ with the QBs

On July 11th, SCAPA teamed up with the QBs for a summer BBQ, and the turnout said it all — around 60 people came out for hotdogs, hamburgers, and a lot of good aviation talk.

Folks brought their airplane and cars for display, Clay from Angel Flight West gave a 45-minute presentation on the organization and its mission and Doug gave a CalPilots update for what is happening at E16 and the surrounding airports. Beyond that, it was just a good time — lots of socializing, aviation talk, new members joining SCAPA, and familiar faces reconnecting.

Beyond the food and the presentation, the real story of the day was the crowd. We had new members join SCAPA on the spot, and plenty of existing members took the opportunity to renew. There was no shortage of catching up with old friends, meeting new faces, and swapping stories — exactly what these joint events are for.

Thanks to everyone who came out, to the QBs for co-hosting, and to Clay for making the trip to talk with us. If you haven’t renewed your SCAPA membership yet, you can do so here.

Mark your calendars for our next meeting on August 22nd at 11am at the country trailer (terminal building). Bruce from Bruce’s Custom Covers will be giving a talk — should be a great one for anyone who’s dealt with the sun beating down on their airplane.

We’ll see you at the next one.
